‘Blackpool Build Up’ is a 4 year £1.8 million project run by Blackpool Borough Council and Blackpool and The Fylde College, aimed at training adults in construction skills.

All learners on the Blackpool Build Up programme are aged 21 or over. Unemployed or in receipt of benefit and living in a Blackpool postcode.All learners seeking work placement and employment will have a moving on plan which will clearly identify attendance, punctuality, attitude towards work and ability as well as a reference from their tutor. Employers will be shown these detailed plans in order to assist them in selecting the most suitable candidate for their organisation.

General Operatives (10 weeks, 2.5 days per week)

  • Block paving
  • Flagging
  • Concreting
  • Base preparation
  • Drainage
  • Kerbing to line and level, installation of drop kerbs
  • Base preparation
  • Brickwork

As well as training in the above you will also get your cscs card, abrasive wheels and manual lifting and handling certification.
